Invitation messages
Wedding invitation messages for friends and colleagues
Short answer
A good wedding invitation message for friends is short and personal: the news, the date, the city, which functions they are invited to, and one line that sounds like you. Post once in the friends group, then send close friends their own message. For colleagues, keep it polite, name the function (usually the reception) and send it once, in the team channel or by email.

Friends are the easiest people to invite and the easiest to forget. A wedding invitation for friends doesn't need the formal lines your parents use for relatives; it needs the date, the plan and a reason to clear their calendar. Below are messages for school and college groups, your best friend, friends in other cities and office colleagues, with a short guide on who to invite at work.
- For the friends group and one by one
- For your best friend and friends who live far away
- For colleagues and whether to invite them
- Follow-ups
What makes a good wedding invitation message for friends?
Three things: the date in the first line, a clear answer to “which functions am I invited to?”, and something personal. Friends often come for the sangeet and the baraat but not the pheras, or only for the reception, so say so plainly.
Keep the jokes, but keep the details easy to find. If someone has to read three paragraphs to learn the city, they will ask you on the phone instead. For the full set of family and formal messages, see the wedding invitation messages guide.

Should you invite your colleagues?
You don't have to invite the whole office. The usual way is to invite your own team, your manager, and colleagues you are close to outside work. If you invite part of a team, invite those people personally instead of posting in the shared channel, so nobody reads an invitation that wasn't meant for them.
Tell your manager in person before the message goes out, along with your leave dates. And if you are inviting colleagues to the reception only, say so clearly so nobody books travel for the pheras.

One last thing that saves you a hundred replies: send friends a link instead of a PDF. With an invitation website on WhatsApp, they can open the map for each venue, see which functions they're invited to and reply in a minute, and if a timing changes you edit it once.
