## How do you choose a good wedding hashtag?

A wedding hashtag only works if guests can remember it and type it on a phone at a sangeet, with music on and one hand holding a plate. That rules out a lot of clever ones.

1. **Under 20 characters.** #AnRoKiShaadi is easy; #AnanyaAndRohanFinallyTieTheKnot2026 won't be typed right twice.
2. **Capitalise each word.** #AnRoKiShaadi reads at a glance; #anrokishaadi makes people guess where the words break. Instagram treats both as the same tag.
3. **No spelling traps.** If a name has two common spellings (Mehendi or Mehndi, Priya or Pria), pick the one most guests will type, or avoid that word.
4. **Unique to you.** Search it on Instagram before you print it. If another couple's photos come up, add your city, year or a word like Forever.
5. **Say it out loud.** If it sounds odd to your nani, it will look odd on the welcome board too.

## Which Hinglish wedding hashtags work best?

Hinglish hashtags are what Indian weddings actually use, because they sound like the family talking. The most common pattern is a blend of both names with _ki_ or _ka_: #AnRoKiShaadi, #RohanKiAnanya, #AnanyaKaRohan.

The _ka_ or _ki_ follows the Hindi gender of the word that comes after it: _Rohan ki Ananya_, _Ananya ka Rohan_, _shaadi_, _haldi_ and _mehendi_ take _ki_, while _sangeet_, _roka_ and _reception_ take _ka_. Get it wrong and every chacha at the wedding will point it out. The generator above follows the rule for you.

## Should each function have its own hashtag?

Only if you'll print the right one at each venue. Separate tags keep the haldi photos apart from the reception photos, which helps when you make the album, but guests mix them up unless the tag is in front of them. A safe middle path: one main hashtag on the invite, and a function suffix (#AnRoKiHaldi, #AnRoKaSangeet) on the boards at those functions.

## How do you check if a wedding hashtag is taken?

Search it on Instagram and look at the posts under it. A tag with no posts, or only posts from years ago, is safe. Each idea in the generator has an Instagram link next to it that opens its tag page, so you can check a shortlist in a minute. If yours is taken, adding the year (#AnRo2026) or the city (#AnRoInJaipur) usually fixes it.

## Where should you put your wedding hashtag?

- **On the invite**, so guests see it weeks before the first function. An Aaiyega invite has a line for it under your welcome note.
- **On welcome boards and table cards** at every venue.
- **In the WhatsApp group's name** for the wedding, so the cousins see it every time they open the chat.
- **In your own posts first.** Guests copy what they see the couple use.

Questions

## Questions people ask

How do you make a wedding hashtag?

Start from both first names: join them (#AnanyaWedsRohan), blend them (#AnRo), or add a Hinglish word (#AnRoKiShaadi). Keep it under 20 characters, capitalise each word so it reads easily, and search it on Instagram to make sure no other couple uses it.

Should we have one hashtag or one for each function?

One main hashtag is enough for most weddings, because guests remember one. If you want the photos sorted, add a short suffix per function, such as #AnRoKiHaldi and #AnRoKaSangeet, and print the right one at each venue.

How do I check if a wedding hashtag is already taken?

Open Instagram, search the hashtag, and look at the posts. If another couple's photos show up, add your year, city or a word like Forever. The generator above links each idea straight to its Instagram page.

Where should we put our wedding hashtag?

On the invite, on a welcome board and table cards at each venue, in the family WhatsApp group's name, and in your own posts first, so guests see it in use. The earlier guests see it, the more photos end up under it.

Is this wedding hashtag generator free?

Yes. It runs in your browser, nothing is saved or sent anywhere, and you can use any hashtag it makes.
