When the wedding is your son's, the card speaks for the groom's family. It names him first, carries the baraat departure, and often invites guests to a reception you host after the wedding. This page gives the Hindu marriage wedding card matter in Hindi for a son, the same in English, and a few WhatsApp lines to send with it. The bride's side is covered in [card matter for a daughter's wedding](https://aaiyega.com/wedding-card-matter-for-daughter), and every traditional word is explained in [wedding card matter in Hindi](https://aaiyega.com/wedding-card-matter-in-hindi).

## What goes on the card from the groom's side?

The order is the same as any Hindi card, with a few differences because your family hosts the baraat and usually a reception:

or your family's line.
2. **Your son**: चि. एवं श्रीमती …, and पौत्र if grandparents are named.
3. **The bride**: सौ.कां. or आयु. एवं श्रीमती …, with her city.
4. **Functions at your home**: tilak, haldi, mehendi, sangeet, as your family holds them.
5. **बारात प्रस्थान**: date, time and the place it leaves from.
6. **प्रीतिभोज or reception**: if you host one after the wedding.
7. **विनीत / दर्शनाभिलाषी**: your names and the family's, and the children's line.

(चिरंजीव) means “may he live long”. पौत्र is a son's son, used with his dada and dadi's names; if the card names his nana and nani, he is their दौहित्र.

## Wedding card wording in English for your son

English cards from the groom's side read the same way: your son's name first, the bride with her parents, then the baraat and reception. Titles are optional in English; many families keep Chi. and Sau. Kan. for continuity with the Hindi card.

## How do you write the baraat and reception lines?

The baraat line tells guests exactly where to be and when. Give the place it leaves from, the time, and, if guests should go straight to the venue, say so. The reception line names the hosts if it is held separately from the wedding.

Questions

## Questions people ask

How do you write a wedding card for your son in Hindi?

Open with ॥ \[वधू\] के साथ…”, the bride's parents' names, the baraat departure and reception details, and विनीत with your names. Samples are above.

Which name comes first on the groom's side card?

Your son's. On the groom's family's card the groom is written first, with चि. before his name, and the bride follows with सौ.कां. or आयु. and her parents' names and city.

What does the groom's family's card include that the bride's does not?

Usually the baraat departure time and place, any functions held at the groom's home (such as haldi or tilak), and the reception or प्रीतिभोज the groom's family hosts after the wedding.

What is the English wording for a son's wedding card?

“Mr and Mrs \[Parents\] request the pleasure of your company at the wedding of their son \[Groom\] with \[Bride\], daughter of Mr and Mrs \[Bride's parents\], on \[Date\] at \[Venue\].” Add the baraat time and reception below.

Should I mention the bride's city on my son's wedding card?

Yes, it is customary. Write it after her parents' names, for example “(सुपुत्री श्री … एवं श्रीमती …, जयपुर)”. It tells guests where the wedding is if the baraat travels.
