## What goes on the card from the bride's side?

, a shloka, or your कुलदेवी's name.
2. **Your daughter**: आयु. or सौ. एवं श्रीमती …, and पौत्री if grandparents are named.
3. **The groom**: चि. एवं श्रीमती …, with his city.
4. **Functions before the wedding**: haldi, mehendi, sangeet, as your family holds them.
5. **बारात आगमन** and **पाणिग्रहण संस्कार**: the time the baraat arrives and the muhurat of the pheras.
6. **विदाई**: optional, with the time if guests are invited.
7. **स्वागतोत्सुक / दर्शनाभिलाषी**: your family's names and the children's line.

पौत्री is a son's daughter, used with her dada and dadi's names; with her nana and nani, she is their दौहित्री. Some families also name the person performing the kanyadaan when it is not the father, for example an uncle or grandfather; write it the way your family will say it at the mandap.

## Wedding card wording in English for your daughter

The bride's family's English card names the daughter first and the groom with his parents. “Request the pleasure of your company” is the usual line; a few families prefer “the honour of your presence” for the ceremony itself.

- Classic
- ॥ Shri Ganeshaya Namah ॥ Mr and Mrs \[Parents\] request the pleasure of your company at the wedding of their daughter \[Bride\] with \[Groom\] (Son of Mr and Mrs \[Groom's parents\], \[City\]) on \[Day, Date\] Baraat arrival: 8:00 pm Pheras: \[Time\] at \[Venue\], \[City\] With best compliments from \[Family name\] family

- Short

## How do you word the baraat welcome and vidaai?

The bride's card tells guests when to arrive for the baraat's welcome, the milni or jaimala, and when the pheras begin, since many guests come for one and not the other. Mention the vidaai only if guests are expected; at many weddings it is a family moment in the early morning.

## Messages to send with your daughter's wedding card

If the card goes on WhatsApp, a link travels better than a PDF: guests open the map, see the baraat and phera times, and reply. On [Aaiyega](https://aaiyega.com/designs) you can open the invite with ॥ or your own shloka and name the functions as your family does. Questions

## Questions people ask

How do you write a wedding card for your daughter in Hindi?

Begin with ॥ \[वर\] के साथ…”, the groom's parents and city, the baraat arrival, the ceremony time and venue, and स्वागतोत्सुक with the family's names.

What title is written before the bride's name?

(सौभाग्यकांक्षिणी) or आयु. Many bride's families prefer आयु. on their own card and leave सौ.कां. to the groom's family; both are correct, so use what your family has used before.

What does the bride's side card include?

The baraat arrival time, the wedding ceremony (पाणिग्रहण संस्कार or फेरे) with its muhurat, the venue, and often the vidaai. The bride's family is the host on the wedding day, so the card welcomes guests rather than asking them to travel with a baraat.

How do you write a daughter's wedding invitation in English?

“Mr and Mrs \[Parents\] request the pleasure of your company at the wedding of their daughter \[Bride\] with \[Groom\], son of Mr and Mrs \[Groom's parents\], on \[Date\] at \[Venue\], \[City\].” Add the baraat arrival and ceremony times below.

What message should parents send with their daughter's wedding card?

Short and warm: “Hamari beti \[Bride\] ki shaadi \[Date\] ko hai. Aap sab ka aashirwad chahiye, zaroor aaiyega.” Send it personally to close relatives, and with the card or link in the same message.
